Building/Fire Inspector

Responsibilities

Conduct field inspections of structural, plumbing, mechanical and/or electrical installations for compliance with building codes

Conduct field inspections of, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, water supply, fire extinguishers, exiting, and other fire prevention related items as outlined in the Fire Code.

Ensure compliance with State and local codes as well as local amendments to the code.

Issue notices of violations for non-compliance; maintain records regarding inspection
-
Inspect buildings annually for businesses to ensure they meet fire code regulations.

Conduct Fire Code related plans review
-
Conduct non-structural building plans review (architectural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing)

Conduct on and off site inspections where required
-
Issue and update permits
Requirements:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to conduct building and fire inspection in commercial and residential construction which may include structural and non-structural components in the following areas: structural, architectural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, accessibility, energy, and fire equipment installations.
Knowledge of:

California Building Codes
-
California Fire Code
-
Principles and techniques of building inspection
-
Knowledge of building construction, materials and methods

Experience in building construction for commercial and residential buildings

Pertinent state and local laws, codes and regulations

Ability to provide excellent customer service

Ability to work and respect fellow employees and clients
Experience:

Regulations: 1 year (Preferred)
