CAA is currently accepting resumes for a part-time Code Enforcement Officer for Orange County.
Code Enforcement Officers perform a variety of office and fieldwork related to inspection and investigations to ensure compliance with City and State codes and regulations; as well as provide information on City regulations to homeowners and business and community groups to enhance and preserve the quality of neighborhoods and businesses.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Conducts field investigations and property inspections to uncover violations of nuisance, zoning, junk and debris, abandoned/inoperative vehicles, housing and related ordinances.

Issues infraction/misdemeanor citations for violations of City and State Codes relating to nuisance, zoning, junk and debris, housing deficiencies, and abandoned/inoperative vehicles.

Responds to public inquiries and public nuisance abatement complaints and answers questions related to City code enforcement

Coordinates inspections and dispositions of cases with various City departments.
Knowledge of
-
Regulations and requirements for record keeping, report writing and court evidence documentation;
-
Principles and methods of investigation.

Basic terminology used in zoning, housing, fire codes, landlord/tenant law, and inspection warrants.

Windows based applications including word processing.
Ability to
-
Research, interpret, explain, and apply applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations related to zoning, nuisance abatement, and health and safety issues.

Inspect and identify violations and enforce applicable codes, ordinances, laws and regulations with impartiality and efficiency.

Work cooperatively with other departments, outside agencies and the public.
Licensure/Certification/Education
-
Successful completion of PC832 Arrest, Search and Seizure within one (1) year of employment.

Completion of California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO) Modules 1-3 within two (2) years of employment.

A Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certificate, or CACEO certification or equivalent is highly desirable.

Equivalent to completion of a high school diploma
Experience
-
Two (2) years of recent full-time work experience performing similar duties to Code Enforcement Officer.
Hourly Rate: $28.00-$32.00
