CAA is currently interviewing for an individual to oversee a variety of public works construction projects and perform public works inspections for several of our clients in the counties of Riverside and San Bernardino.
Under limited supervision, performs a variety of detailed inspections of developer, capital improvements and permit inspection work related to public works( street improvement, grading , etc.)and public utilities construction projects; interprets plans and specifications to ensure contract compliance; prepares project records and reports and prepares and recommends change orders and cost estimates; and performs related duties as assigned.
The Public Works Inspector/Project Manager. Inspects and /or manages a variety of public works and public utilities construction and maintenance projects, such as sidewalks, concrete structures, driveways, water main and service installations, sewer main and lateral installations, lift stations, pump stations, curbs and gutters, retaining walls, earthwork, street excavation and patchwork, drainage facilities, storm drains, landscape irrigation, traffic signal installations, underground conduit installations, street painting, street asphalt concrete paving and slurry seal coating street traffic sign installations, and others to ensure construction and materials comply with contract standards and specifications, state laws, local ordinances, and proper construction practices.
Inspects storm water drainage systems and year-round protections, including compliance with NPDES standards. Observes earthwork grading, slope construction, earthen berms and surface drainage; reviews soils compaction reports and grading certificates Inspects all aspects of traffic control set-ups and maintenance for conformance with codes, specifications and safety practices. Inspects underground dry utility systems.Responds to citizen complaints and requests for information, including the general public, developers, contractors and utility representatives.
Maintains necessary records of daily operations, including daily project reports, time reports and vehicle reports Performs final inspection of construction projects for field acceptance; prepares list of required corrections prior to field acceptance or final bond exoneration.
Considerable knowledge of public works construction management, inspection, methods and materials; knowledge of contract administration and pay estimates; working knowledge of methods and interpretation of soil analysis, materials, compaction and density tests; ability to read and interpret plans and specifications; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, other departments and the public; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Graduation from high school and four (4) years of experience in public works construction/inspection or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Hourly Rate: $39.00-$54.00
