ENVIRONMENTAL ASSOCIATE

CAA is currently accepting resumes for a full-time Environmental Associate to work in the Orange County area in Southern California.

 

The Environmental Associate’s role is to support the Environmental Services Division with providing National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Pollution Prevention program support and Solid Waste Management program support to comply with current State and Federal regulations.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Perform inspections of commercial and industrial businesses for compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations, and associated follow-up tasks, including checklist completion, and database entry. 

 

  • Perform response and investigation of illegal discharges/illicit connections (IC/ID), including follow-up with responsible party, checklist completion, and database entry. 

 

  • Provide informational outreach materials and presentations to residents and businesses and participate in outreach events.

 

  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and complaints from the public, and redirect and/or escalate as appropriate. 

 

  • Perform general clerical duties associated with the operation/business, including filing, maintaining records, copying and scanning. 

 

  • Liaison between the City, businesses, residents and state and local agencies. 

 

  • Assist with other program support tasks as needed.

 

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times. 

 

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

 

A degree in Environmental Science (or related field). At least two years of experience in NPDES Stormwater Program Administration and Inspections is preferred.

 

Proficient with Microsoft Office software and other PC programs. Able to effectively communicate with the general public, clients, contractors and others in respectful and professional manners. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Solid organization and time management skills.  Effective verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to work independently, managing multiple responsibilities.
