CAA is currently accepting resumes for a Full-Time Combination Building Inspector for Grand County, CO.

Duties

  • Performs a variety of complex multi-disciplinary technical and specialized building inspections to ensure that all residential, commercial and industrial construction complies with established standards, codes and ordinances designed to safeguard building occupants and the public.

  • Assists with the review and approval of residential and commercial construction plans and building permits

  • Assists with the evaluation of alternative materials and methods of construction and recommendations of approval or denial to the Chief Building Official and Building Official.

  • Answers complex code questions and provides technical information to design professionals, contractors and citizens and imparts code knowledge and information to the inspection team.

Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in commercial building inspection and/or residential combination inspection with additional experience in any of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, mechanical installations and/or inspections; grading inspection. 

Knowledge of

  • Building-related national building codes

  • General zoning and land use laws

  • General grading practices

  • Codes and ordinances related to disabled and public access

  • Principles and techniques of building inspection

  • Principles of structural design and engineering mathematics

  • Major types of building construction, materials, and methods

  • Accepted safety standards and methods of building construction for commercial and residential buildings

  • Pertinent federal state and local laws, codes, and regulations

Education and Experience

Two years of building construction experience, including at least one year of building inspection experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Electrical license preferred but not required. 

Hourly Rate: $36-$44.00.
